Life With A Friesian Dream

Aim for your goals

I’m having a little bit of stage fright right now, because today, my blog had 80 000 page views from all over the planet. THAT’S INSANE! I’m still in shock! I don’t know what to say – thank you so much for the support in a very important debate!

The sun suddenly appeared again a few weeks ago, so we decided to have a little archery-photoshoot! Batman is the most chill horse ever, and he LOVES my bow. In his opinion arrows are food, and archery is the best thing in the world. He will stay by my side and basically shoot together with me, haha. I guess he finds it fascinating! When I’m shooting from his back, he also knows when I hit the target, and when he can feel me aim, he will run smooth and stable.

It took me 1 minute to introduce him to archery :D Strong bow with sharp arrows + 700 kg war horse … DON’T MESS WITH US!

My henley is of course from  Alp-n-Rock /, my awesome sponsor who helps me making my dreams possible. I’m an proud ambassador for this brand, and recommend their clothing with all my heart! I have never worn so comfortable and stylish looking henleys before in my life, and I have a whole bunch of them! ❤ You will get 20% off their webstore by using the code INSTA20MATILDE :)

Where did you find my blog? Comment below and enjoy the photos!

Peace, love and Friesian hugs,

Mounted Archery – our first time shooting from canter

I started doing archery in august when I bought my bow, and that was the first time ever I was holding a bow. I have not been taking any classes and so far, Youtube is my teacher. I’m still a beginner and very green. I know I have a long journey ahead of me especially when it comes to technique (I suffer from chronical pain in my shoulders and neck and that makes it difficult to put my arm in the correct position without shaking) but practice make perfect, right?

The last couple of times I have been shooting with Batman I have actually done pretty good, but we have only tried in walk so far. On a good day I hit the target with all arrows also from a longer distance, so after doing a week with dressage and preparation with Batman, we decided to just jump into it and try to shoot from canter today!

The target was not very far away and pretty big, and I think I could have moved it a couple of meters, but it doesn’t matter! We tried it first once, and I lost control of the arrow and we missed. But the second time I actually hit the target from gallop! *Apples and praise to Batman*

Earlier he have been very little enthusiastic about cantering past the target, but today he understood his job, and become very eager! Almost a little too much haha, that acceleration … Abort mission! But he will get himself together when I tell him to, so it was basically no problem. If I can handle an eager 700 kg Friesian with one hand bridleless while holding a bow and two arrows and actually hit the target a few seconds later, I can do anything.

My new cordeo (and this is actually a real cordeo and not a leading rope with a huge knot like all my other homemade “cordeos” haha) is sponsored by and I love it so much! It’s perfect in my hand because of the light rope, and it’s also very comfy.

Peace, love and friesian hugs,
Batman & Matilde
