AEG 2017 was an amazing experience. Batman did a great job and I’m extremely proud of him! He is literally the most amazing horse I have ever met.
A huge thanks to Arctic Equestrian Games for having us, and thank you so much to everyone who showed up and said hello! I’m forever grateful!
We had a great time and it was lovely to share the day with so many awesome people. Batman behaved like a true gentleman, and even tho he was a bit tired towards the end and ready for a hay-break, I’m more impressed of him than I have ever been before. Many of his friends from all over Norway got to try bridleless riding, take selfies and give him a hug. What a horse! After a year in the forest, he was like okay, a bunch of people, flags, cars and dogs in front of the main entrance to the largest equestrian show in Norway .. I got this!
When we first arrived, the plan was to keep Batman in a halter, and let the people who came say hello. I did not know for sure how the area we had looked like, and how Batman would react to the new environment, so I did as I usually do: I don’t make plans, I let him decide, and takes it from there. So when we suddenly got an opportunity to set up some fences, and Batman was completely chill, I was able to let him walk free, and I even rode him!
The surface was slippery, so trot was unfortunately not possible even though Batman offered it, but it was great to get a chance to show him bridleless anyways.
He was extremely well behaved, and after photos, selfies, hugs, kisses, tricks, I let some of Batman’s friends feel how it is like to ride a huge Friesian bridleless! I actually don’t know any other horses you can take to a completely foreign place like this, and let others try riding. Batman is truly special; filled with power, eager and fast when I’m working with him; he challenges me and we play with stunts and large movements that require concentration, strength and swiftness. But he is a completely different horse when there are lots of other people around him, children, dogs, and people not that used to being around horses. So I can actually let anyone ride him, and he will take such good care of them!
They did a great job, and I’m so proud of both them and Batman.
PS: The riding skirt designed in collaboration with www.klesarven.no can be purchased here!
Thank you for a great day – enjoy the photos!
Peace, love and Friesian hugs,
Batman & Matilde
