It’s been a while since I started on my first leatherwork project; a halter! I had to wait for the hardware to arrive and it felt like a decade before I finally could continue on the project.
The halter is coming along nicely, and almost looks like a halter, flaws and all. But when I finally get to the point where I can put it on Batman, I don’t think I’ll notice everything that went wrong.
It is absolutely amazing to spend the evening sewing! When I tried for the first time I was sure I would hate it because it was extremely hard work to create all the tiny holes through multiple layers of leather, but I actually like it. It is like meditation! I can’t be online while working because I need to focus on what I am doing, and my favorite activity nowadays is actually to turn off all electric lights in my living room (I often do and it is the best), listen to music from Outlander and finish a piece of the halter. It is awesome! Except from the morning after … I wake up regretting staying up late and my living room looks like a mess with dead-cowhide-powder and tools all over the place … Even my kitchen is full of leather and I had to move a hammer and a piece of deceased cow when I was about to make myself a slice of bread. Hashtag bad vegetarian? The tools were all over my chopping board! I have so much space in my apartment so maybe I should consider making myself a work space.
Here’s some photos from today’s work! The perfect way to spend a Friday evening.
Peace, love and Friesian hugs,
Batman & Matilde

What are the decorative pieces on the cheek called? Are they purely decorative or do they also serve a purpose? Did you get those in the leather store to? I’m looking to try something like this myself but my experience level is 0% and I’m not sure if there are any leather glasses near me…
